Agenda (Updates/Notes in blue italics)

  • Data Standards working group member and co-chairs   - Josh / Sean

    • First task of day: to identify the desired participants from each contributing organization, and to collect nominations on co-chairs. (Sean noted that co-chairs can be selected later on).

      • Participants identified from each org.- Discussion about this ensued.

        • AAIS

          • Ken Sayers (Leader Advisor)

          • Jenny Tornquist (Leader Advisor)

          • Greg Williams (Technical Advisor)

          • Michael Payne (Leader Advisor)

          • Andy Mielke (Out till 5/12.  Include once back)

          • Mike Puchner (Stat plan Lead for AAIS core team)

          • Andy Regis (Support for AAIS Core Team)

          • Theresa Wahoff (Actuarial SME)

          • Patty Drajin (Actuarial SME)

          • Angie Ang (possible third Actuarial SME?)

          • Jim Bamberger (Project Manager)

          • Martha Bako (Product Manager - homeowners specific)

          • Kept informed on AAIS’s side but not included: John Kadous - Head of Products, Jill Jordan - Senior Business Analyst, Chris Aufenthie - Compliance Manager, Amanda Brine - Data Solutions Director. All of the above should be in the mailing list for visibility.

          • JT reinforced the fact that participation in this group means actively participating, not simply nominally being involved; this is the expectation.

          • AAIS made co chair recommendations but they will be addressed later.

        • reThought

          • Cory Isaacson

          • Catherine Myers

        • Cloverleaf

          • Rob Clark

          • Michael Schwabrow

  • A discussion also took place regarding the Data Standards Working Group, what it will look like, and what will be expected/required - led by Josh Hershman, who made the following points:

    • Wrt time commitment: the plan will be to schedule biweekly 30 minute calls. Depending on the workflow additional meetings may be required

    • The current plan is to start with the data specifications as Cloverleaf currently has them set up, and thereby to make this an easier lift.

    • The data standard WG will be on Homeowners line of business focus with AAIS & reThought having different perspectives.

    • Determining the direction will be a key component of the first session of the data specifications meeting.

    • A schedule has not been determined yet - a poll will be conducted (see action items, below).

    • Cloverleaf expressed interest in shepherding and guiding this working group, and lending expertise and wisdom, also making sure that the group is not needlessly reinventing the wheel.

    • It was cautioned that too many participants overall could risk making the group unwieldy and that less may be more in terms of efficiency and productivity. Josh’s response: critical to establish the structure and functionality of the group. It will be open to anyone, but there will be designated seated participants tasked with making decisions. With this in mind, two or three folks from AAIS should be sufficient.

    • Each meeting will have a tight, focused agenda, and then at the end a section will be opened up for freeform Q&A/comments.

    • Cloverleaf specifically requested an afternoon time slot and a meeting series that begins after March, when their schedules become more manageable.

    • From AAIS, Josh suggested Jenny Tornquist and Ken Sayers as the two seated decision-makers. AAIS said it would discuss internally (see action items, below).

    • The unresolved question arose of whether we want additional insurance industry SMEs in the group, and if so, which ones.

  • Regarding the white paper group - this is wrapping up. Work still needs to be done on the second incarnation of the white paper but a continuation of the working group is not necessary to realize this. This second paper will be the core work of the data specifications side. The group is not far off from starting the second version.

    • Cloverleaf should “button up” whatever needs to be buttoned up in this version.

    • Then it will be moved into same format and style as the first white paper

    • Then a press release will be issued, its timing TBD. That press release will say “Cloverleaf is contributing its IP around data specifications, and here is what is what it looks like.”

    • For this reason, the second white paper is more critical for being an industry mouthpiece and driving industry adoption.

    • Original plan is to get this out before the “main event” conference; Lanaya plans to meet with Josh and Michael this afternoon to clarify timelines. Josh and Lanaya will collaborate with Cloverleaf to create a rough draft and then send to the group for approval.

    • Broad agreement to leave case studies out of white paper #2.

  • White Paper #1 Update - Lanaya

    • Basically done - minor changes remaining. If everyone is copacetic (and no objections were raised in mtg.), it is ready to go on website - Lanaya will also send out link to website when it goes live; also generated a blog post with a high-level quick overview of what is covered in the white paper if people want to mine this for PR content, and some examples of linked in posts that can be used.

    • Will do a press release with the second white paper (base of which will be second half of the original white paper), which will be pushed into publication very quickly.

    • Also doing webinars and working on determining who the best participants/panelists are. Planning for these is underway, including one on blockchain & data exchange for Intertech Denver

  • Closure on AAIS CLA POC phase 2 – Jenny

    • This has officially been closed

    • Documentation has been buttoned up and review is done.

    • Next phase is an implementation phase

    • Cloverleaf happy with the outcome
